WP3.1: The carbon cycle

WP3.1 objectives

• To reconstruct carbon cycle dynamics during the present and last interglacials based on high quality data of atmospheric CO₂ concentration and carbon isotopes as well as on marine archives for carbonate production and paleoproductivity.
• To disentangle mechanisms responsible for the carbon cycle trend and variability during the present and last interglacials by comparing the geological archives with simulations of coupled climate-carbon cycle models.
• To better constrain biogeochemical mechanisms and feedbacks between climate and the carbon cycle.
